Our Vision

Spiritual Health Warning

Regular attendance at this church could seriously affect your life!

Our mission statement is that which Jesus Christ gives us:

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations"  (Matthew 28: 19)

However, we recognise the danger of being tempted to try and do too much, and the importance of remembering the message of Christ to all who seek to follow him:

"Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,  for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Matthew 11 v29-30

Our Vicar, Dave Gardner, writes in his welcome:

"To all who feel they are linked to St John's, my prayer is that we can all find the rest that Jesus longs to give us for every aspect of our lives.

Our mission statement (above) reminds us that our primary calling is to be a follower of Jesus

This following takes place in the whole of our lives, not just in the activity of the organisational church."

Tree LogoSomething about us at St Johns: Our tree logo sums up the ethos of St John's, as an image of life, growth, strength and shelter. The tree is firmly planted at the riverside, drawing nourishment and water through three roots, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The branches with their leaves and fruit resemble a family or all-age group, with arms uplifted in joyful worship of God and outreach to others.

Our work among children and young people is very important to us. Most Sunday mornings the children have their own Junior Church Groups in the Old Vicarage or Church Hall. Revival Youth Congregation meets in Cell Groups on Sunday mornings, as well as at Rock Solid on Friday evenings and the monthly youth service 'Vision'.
