Prayer at St John's
An Hour of Prayer
The church is open every Tuesday evening from 7.30pm-8.30pm for a time to pray and to seek the heart of God for St John's in these times. There are a number of different people who facilitate these prayer times so each has a different 'flavour'. It can be quite 'traditional' or more creative; the shared desire is to be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit and the shared belief is that persistent prayer is powerful to bring change.
You are very welcome to join us either regularly or intermittently as you can. Please contact Mary Howard or the Church Office if you would like more information.
Other Opportunities for Prayer
There is a small informal prayer meeting that meets each weekday morning in term-time from 9-9:30am in the church vestry (just off the foyer in the church). All are welcome!
Prayer is also a part of our Life Groups and each Life Group will have prayer as part of their mid-week meetings.
The prayer ministry team are available to pray with people for God's healing of physical and related problems during or after services or at home. If you would like a member of the prayer ministry team to visit you at home please contact Roy & Lis Eaton or the Church Office.
St John's has a prayer diary which is issued monthly with a scripture passage and focus for prayers each weekday in the month. This is to encourage us to pray in one accord regardless of our various mid-week commitments. Every month the latest prayer diary is available to download and print at home from the Prayer Diary page. For more information contact Roy Eaton or the Church Office.
Items for prayer and thanks can be entered into the prayer book at the back of church at any time. The book is used during intercessions in Sunday services.
The prayer chain can be used for urgent prayer needs. If you have an urgent prayer request you would like included please contact Lis Eaton or the Church Office.
